DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) is an email validation system used to certify that an e-mail has been sent by an authenticated server or individual. An electronic signature is attached to the email message’s header by using a private key. When the email is received, a public key that’s available in the global Domain Name System is used to validate who actually sent it and whether its content has been edited in any way. The fundamental task of DomainKeys Identified Mail is to stop the widespread scam and spam emails, as it makes it impossible to fake an email address. If an email message is sent from an address claiming to belong to your bank, for instance, but the signature doesn’t match, you will either not get the message at all, or you will receive it with a notification that most probably it is not an authentic one. It depends on mail service providers what exactly will happen with an email which fails the signature examination. DKIM will also supply you with an additional layer of safety when you communicate with your business allies, for example, as they can see that all the e-mails that you exchange are genuine and have not been tampered with in the meantime.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Shared Web Hosting

The DomainKeys Identified Mail functionality is pre-activated for all domains that are hosted in a shared web hosting account on our cloud platform, so you won’t have to do anything on your end to turn it on. The sole condition is that the given domain should be hosted in a hosting account on our end using our NS and MX resource records, so that the e-mail messages will go through our email servers. The private encryption key will be generated on the server and the TXT resource record, which includes the public key, will be published to the global Domain Name System automatically, so you won’t need to do anything manually on your end in order to enable this feature. The DKIM authentication system will allow you to send trustable e-mail messages, so if you’re sending offers or a newsletter to customers, for instance, your emails will always reach their target audience, whereas unauthorized 3rd parties won’t be able to forge your email addresses.

DomainKeys Identified Mail in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All necessary DomainKeys Identified Mail records will be created automatically by our cloud hosting platform when you add a domain name as hosted in your semi-dedicated server account, so in case you decide to order a semi-dedicated server plan, you won’t have to configure anything to be able to take advantage of the email validation system. The domain name must use our name servers in order for its DNS records to be managed by us and as long as this precondition is answered, a private key will be created on our email servers and a public key will be published to the global Domain Name System by a special TXT record. All email addresses that you create using the domain name will be protected by DomainKeys Identified Mail, which will make it impossible for 3rd parties to fake any address. Both you and your partners or clients can take advantage of this functionality, since it will guarantee a higher level of safety for your e-correspondence.
